Growth renewed in spinning/weaving investment

The annual International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) machinery shipments report showed  faster growth in 2017.

In several categories, the previous few years had seen a decline: China continued to be the largest buyer of new equipment.

Spinning machinery In  2017 shipments of new short-staple spindles increased for the first time since 2013, with deliveries to China up 34% (2016: up 9%) and to Indonesia 135% – but deliveries to Bangladesh fell 33% (2016: up 97%) and fell 33% to Vietnam too (2016: up 4%)

Shipments of open-end rotors rose 24% (2016: up 66%) , while shipments to China grew 6% (2016: up 92%)

Weaving In 2017, worldwide shipments of shuttle-less looms increased by 12% to 95,400 units (2016: up 4%)

Knitting Machinery Global shipments of large circular knitting machines rose slightly by 0.12% to a level close to 28,000 units in 2017 (2016: down 3%)
