Amazon Q3 retail sales “surprisingly weak”
The initiative – as far as we are aware, unprecedented in our industry – would be extraordinary anywhere. But after years of egregious buyer exploitation, a formal programme encouraging Bangladesh factories to criticise Western buyers’ ethics in public is quite revolutionary.
The programme – already trialled with UK chain Bonmarche – demonstrates the transformation Bangladesh has lived through since the Rana Plaza disaster. It contrasts strongly with the disgraceful treatment UK suppliers typically receive from their clients.
