Pfizer announced on November 9 that the vaccine it had developed with BioNTech is 90% effective in preventing people from getting Covid-19.
The vaccine is one of around 12 worldwide in the final stages of testing, but it is the first to produce any results.
Sir John Bell, regius professor of medicine at Oxford University, said that other vaccines were now likely to become available in the near future and that “life will return to normal by spring.”
